It is a paradise for adventure lovers and this high altitude trek can be done on the frozen Zanskar River. Pacify your adrenaline rush here and have a thrilling experience of the magnificent sights. The trip spanning over 9 days and you will get to witness the magnificent sights and natural wonders that will leave you in awe. Day 01:

Reach Leh

Upon your arrival in Leh, you will have an assisted check-in in the hotel. Snuggled at an altitude of 11,400 feet, this place is covered with the snow-clad mountains. We suggest you keep your woolens handy so that after reaching the airport you will wear them if it required. Perched at such a high altitude, one needs to spend two days in Leh to get acclimatized of the surroundings. The rest of the day is at your leisure. After taking some rest, you can explore the market in the evening.

Day 02:

Acclimatization Day

On the second day of your Chadar Trek Packages, have a delicious breakfast and the rest of the day is at your leisure. Spend the day traveling to nearby places so that your body will adjust to the high altitude. The Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is one of the major issues faced by the people in such a high altitude place. So Ladakh Government has issued an order according to which one needs to take rest for at least two days in Leh to get your body fully acclimatize to the weather conditions. Try to walk everywhere, it will help your body in getting acclimatize. One can stroll around the market and go for shopping. Leh market is one of the most happening places where you will enjoy spending the time.

Day 03:

Mandatory medical check-up

On the third day of the Zanskar Trek Tour, you have to undergo a medical check-up in the Sonam Norbu Memorial Hospital, Leh. It is another mandatory rule set by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir according to which all the trekkers must undergo a medical check-up. Only after you get clearance from the medical officer, you will be able to go for the trek. The trekkers will be issued their wildlife permit, insurance, and other documents that are required to commence the trek. We recommend you to get medical tests done before booking the tests so that you won't get disappointed to not get approval in Leh. Start the training for the trek 10 days before, so you will be able to pass the medical check-up swiftly.

Day 04:

Leh to Shingra Koma via Chilling and Tilad do Pass (11,480 ft. to 10,500 ft.)

On the 4th day of the tour, your trek starts from Leh. Shingra Koma is the actual starting point of the trek. You will reach there via Chilling and Tilad do Pass. On the first day of your trek, you will lose altitude from 11,480 ft. to 10,500 ft. One can walk till Shingra Koma from Leh which is 11 km and on foot, it will take 5 hours to reach there. On the way to the Shingra Koma, you will get to visit the various tourist attractions such as Gurdwara Pathar Sahib, Magnetic Hill, and the confluence of River Zanskar and River Indus. You can reach till Chilling by car which will take 90 minutes and then you have to walk on the frozen Zanskar River. Most of the region is covered with snow, so wearing the gumboots are mandatory. Carry a light backpack so you will balance the weight without any trouble.

Day 05:

Trek from Gyalpo to Tibb Cave (10,500 ft. to 10,800 ft.)

On the fifth day of the tour and second day of the trek, you will leave in the early morning from the Gyalpo for Tibb Cave after having a heartwarming breakfast. The distance is 12 km and it will take about 6 hours. You will gain an altitude of 300 feet and pass through some of the most beautiful frozen waterfalls. The trekking on a frozen river is one of the most thrilling experiences. On the way, you will stop for lunch. The glamorously beautiful mountains on the way will leave you spellbound. You will reach to the second campsite of the tour Tibb Cave in the evening. This campsite is surrounded by dry sand.

Day 06:

Trek from Tibb cave to Naerak camp (10,800 ft. 11,100 ft.)

On the sixth day of the tour, you will start your day from the Tibb Cave to the Naerak. You have to cover the distance of 13 km on that day which will take 6-7 hours. You will gain 300 ft. on this day also. After your breakfast, you will leave for the next campsite. This is one of the most awaited places of the tour which will bring you the chance to witness the most scenic landmarks of the Chadar Trek. In the afternoon, you will have a lunch on the way to Naerak. This campsite is the coldest campsite of the tour where the temperature goes down to as low as -30 degrees Celsius. Wear your clothes properly that will keep you warm in such extreme weather conditions.

Day 07:

Naerak to Tibb Cave (11,100 ft. to 10,800 ft.)

On the seventh day of the tour, you will start trekking towards the Tibb Cave. Your return journey to Leh starts with this. If you think the return journey will be easy as you are going to lose the altitude then Chadar will change your notion. The slightest change in the temperature and the behavior of the Zanskar River changes. You will be in awe after witnessing such serenity of nature on your way. You will come across while on the trek, they will insist you to wear their local gears which are known as Gonchas. You will also get a chance to meet monks who will be coming back from Leh. The temperature will be getting warmer as you descend.

Day 08:

Trek from Tibb Cave to Shingra Koma via Gyalpo

This will be the last day of the trek. In the early morning after having breakfast you will start the trekking from Tibb Cave to the Shingra Koma. You will cover 18 km of distance in 7 to 8 hours. You might be lucky enough to spot the Snow Leopard on your way back or any other species of animal. By walking through the high walls of mountains, cascading waterfalls, and natural marvels, you will reach Leh by car in the evening and have an assisted check-in the resort. Rest for a while then you can stroll in the market or the nearby places.

Day 09:

Return to Leh

This is your last day in Leh, get up early and have a mouthwatering breakfast. Check-out from the hotel and you will be dropped at the airport for the onward journey. If you have enough time before your flight then you can go for last-minute shopping. Here are so many shops where one can buy souvenirs for their loved ones.

Advanced Preparation

As everyone is becoming a frequent traveller now, we suggest that you make your own travel accessories kit to ensure a stress free holiday.
Always make sure to carry less and light luggage, use a four wheel small or medium suitcase and please make sure that you are carrying only one suitcase per person. This will ensure that you will travel smartly and without any inconveniences.
It is also recommended that you have one cross shoulder bag or haversack for your handy needs which will ensure that you are comfortable at the time of sightseeing and also easy for photography during your tour.
A smart cap/hat and sunglasses are definitely something that you should have in your kit.
Though Bharatatva provides all three meals, that is breakfast, dinner and Bharatatva treats as per the itinerary, you can carry dry snacks of your choice in small sealed packets for munching during air travel or road journeys.
If you are travelling during the monsoon or to destinations where it is rainy, please carry a small umbrella or poncho.
